Douglas / Boeing Long Beach News and History
Welcome to the unofficial photo diary of the demolition and rebirth of a major section of the Boeing Long Beach, California factory (formerly Douglas Aircraft).
Located at the north edge of Long Beach airport, the proposed 260 acre project lies west of Lakewood Blvd and is slated for conversion into Douglas Park, a mixed commercial-residential development.
The aircraft plant has a long and proud past, but now lies mostly unused. Assembly of 717 commercial jets and the C-17 military transports take up only a fraction of the sprawling factory.
Check Wilexa.com often for the latest news and photos as the the historic hangars are razed to make room for a new neighborhood.
